CEO Letter: Continued Growth for PNWFCU

ceoAs I write this, PNWFCU is coming to the end of 2017. It has been a busy year. Our growth has been strong over 2017, in members, deposits and loans. The Hood River branch remodel started a little later than we’d hoped for but is in full swing right now. I appreciate the forbearance of members and staff using the branch. They are putting up with a lot of construction ruckus as we work through this, long overdue, remodel.

In 2017 we also were able to take advantage of significant operational cost savings by consolidating our administrative staff to our Erin Way branch and selling the operations center. This was possible due to an effective push by all staff to improve the efficiencies of how we serve our members, resulting in faster loans, better coordination within departments, and the elimination of many steps that interfered with, instead of helping us, serve members.

We’ve also worked to give back to the community. One of our major efforts has been to support Doernbecher Children’s Hospital through Credit Unions for Kids.

We are very excited by some of the current projects and how they will improve member service. We are implementing an online budget/spending tool that can provide real-time tracking of your expenses, both on the PC and your phone. We are also in the process of significant improvement to online lending and account opening, which will speed up and simplify both processes for members and staff.
